Welcome Reception at Baylor College of Medicine: The Tour was welcomed to Houston by leaders from the political, corporate, media, and AIDS community. Guests included Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX), who presented the 2006 Women and AIDS U.S. Tour with an official proclamation honoring its work.

Private Dinners with Houston Elites: Tour participants were invited into the homes of various influential Houstonians to discuss the impact of AIDS on women and girls, and what these corporate and community leaders can do to help – both in Houston and worldwide.

Church Services at Windsor Village United Methodist Church: Tour participants Mary Fisher and Idah Mukuka spoke from the pulpit to more than 2,000 members of the congregation, during Sunday morning church services at Windsor Village – the largest United Methodist church in the United States.

Women & AIDS Public Forum: An open forum that joins women living with HIV from the United States and around the world to explore issues facing women and girls in the AIDS response and the solutions that reduce their vulnerability to HIV infection.

Lunch with the Executive Women’s Partnership: Tour participants dialogued with senior women corporate leaders and female CEOs who head companies that gross more than $10 million annually to discuss how the private sector can expand its role in women and AIDS efforts.

Global-Local Site Visits: Interactive dialogues at two Houston-based community organizations – the Women’s Home and A Friendly Haven – that are providing critical AIDS and other support services to women and their families who are at heightened risk for HIV infection, or already living with HIV.
