Women and AIDS Tour 2007- Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS)
Building on the momentum of the previous Women and AIDS Tours, the Global Coalition, in collaboration with 'AIDS infoshare', once again brought a group of dynamic and inspiring women living with HIV to share their experiences and stories – and the aspirations and needs of millions of women and girls worldwide – with people in five cities across the CIS.
From 27 May to 6 June 2007, Women and AIDS Tour visited Almaty (Kazakhstan), Yerevan (Armenia), Chisinau (Moldova), Kyev (Ukraine), and Moscow (Russia). In each city, the Tour urged decision makers to introduce programs specially designed to reach women, including expanding of existing programmes on prevention of mother-to-child transmission, and voluntary counselling and testing.
It highlighted the importance of increased involvement of women into decision making process and development projects that address the specific needs of women and girls.
