Global Coalition Leadership Council

What is the Leadership Council?
The Global Coalition's Leadership Council is a group of prominent personalities who advocate publicly on the issue of women and AIDS and champion the cause of the Coalition.

Membership includes health and development ministers, as well as prominent individuals - sports stars, artists, writers, actors, musicians, activists, royalty, and first ladies, along with well-known community leaders, religious figures, etc. HIV-positive women and men have a particularly important role to play.

The group is as representative as possible in order to maximise outreach, enhancing Coalition access to people and organisations of power and influence.

What do Leadership Council Members do?

• Consistently bring issues related to women and AIDS to the attention of their respective constituencies/audiences
• Raise public awareness of the goals and activities of the Global Coalition
• Foster political commitment
• Mobilize resources for women and AIDS activities
